Gardai called Paul Murphy TD claims a man threatened his wife

Gardai were called to the People Before Profit stand in Dublin on Saturday afternoon after a man threatened to cut the throat of TD Paul Murphy’s wife, reports The Mirror.

Mr Murphy was at the PBP Pro Choice booth bride The Square shopping centre in Tallaght when a man approached him and allegedly started making threats.

The Dublin South West TD said a man “came up to our PBP pro-choice today and told me he would slit my wife’s throat before the end of the week”, reports The Mirror.

He added: “These are the people who claim to be protecting women,” reports The Mirror.

Other members of the political party at the stand called the Gardai and the man reportedly left the area before they arrived.

A number of people made statements to the Gardai and Mr Murphy said he intended to make a formal complaint to the Gardai.

The alleged incident happened less than 24 hours after a video appeared online of a woman who appeared to harass the PBP TD in Job’s Town, Tallaght while he was out canvassing, reports The Mirror.
