Gardaí in Cork have confirmed that a girl has been hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted by a boy on Monday evening.
According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, the girl was hospitalised following the alleged attack which occurred in Ballyvolane at approximately 8:30pm.
It is understood the girl sustained non-life threatening injuries and is currently being treated at Cork University Hospital.
The Irish Mirror reports that the boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and a Garda investigation is currently ongoing.
