Gardai have confirmed that a man in his 70s was stabbed to death in an incident in the capital earlier today.
The incident began shortly before 6am in the Whitechapel Road area of Clonsilla, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15. It is understood that an elderly male was found dead with multiple stab wounds. A man in his 40s had by then entered a nearby house and barricaded himself in.
The incident ended shortly after 11.30am, and a man was taken into custody.
