Gardai in Cork have ascertained that Romanian gangs are flying into Cork to engage in organized begging across the city.
Gardai made the assertion after finding return airline tickets to Romania out of Cork on a number of detained street beggers.
Earlier this month, Gardai detained a Romanian man who was carrying an invoice for six flights between Romania and Cork.
Gardai are encouraging citizens to be vigilant around street beggers, particularly if carrying large amounts of cash over the Christmas period.
