Gardai are said to be considering the introduction of a ‘double trouble’ system, whereby fines and penalty points could double during Bank Holiday weekends, according to an article published by the Irish Sun.
The new measures are part of a crackdown on motoring offences during ‘high-risk’ periods.
The ‘double trouble’ system is currently in place in some parts of Australia, for example.
