The headless remains of the animal, which belonged to the deer herd at Newbridge Demesne in Donabate, were found on Thursday morning, according to Fingal County Council, reports Breaking News.

In a statement, the council said the stag had been killed during the night by individuals who broke into the park.

ā€œThe discovery was made when staff went to feed the herd of Irish red deer,ā€ they said,

ā€œThe stag, who was eight years old, was one of two in the herdā€, reports Breaking News.

Mayor of Fingal Tom O’Leary called the incident deeply disturbing.

GardaĆ, working with the National Parks and Wildlife Service, are examining the incident, which is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Thursday, reports Breaking News.
