
GardaĆ in Kerry have taken a man into custody as part of an investigation into the reported abduction of a woman in Listowel during the early hours of Sunday morning, reports Sunday World.
The woman, who is in her early twenties, had been walking home on the outskirts of the town at approximately 3.25am when a man stopped his car beside her, forcibly pulled her into the vehicle, and drove away in what is being described as a terrifying ordeal.
However, the woman managed to fight off the attacker and escape from the car before fleeing the area, reports Sunday World.
GardaĆ who were on patrol nearby at the time spotted the woman running along the road and quickly intervened to assist her.
A man, also in his early twenties, was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of false imprisonment in connection with the incident. He is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The Kerryman has learned that the victim and the suspect were not known to one another, reports Sunday World.
