Gardaí in Carlow arrest two men aged in their 20s in connection with the alleged assault of an inter-county GAA player

Gardaí in Co Carlow have confirmed that they have arrested two men in connection an alleged assault on a inter county GAA player.

The arrests come after the Co Laois player Daniel O’Reilly, was seriously injured in the incident which occurred in the Potato Market area of Carlow town at approximately 1am on Monday morning.

It is believed the GAA footballer sustained a serious head injury in the incident and he he is currently being treated at St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny.

Gardaí say both men aged in their 20s are currently being detained at Kilkenny and Thomastown Garda stations.
