Authorities in Carrigaline, Co Cork, have arrested a man in his 30s as part of a garda investigation into the death of an 82-year-old woman. The woman passed away this afternoon at Cork University Hospital, where she had been admitted earlier today for treatment.
Gardaà reportedly visited the woman’s residence on Garrydhu Drive, Kilmoney Road, on Sunday following reports of a disturbance involving her and a man. After the incident, the man was taken to Cork University Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation but was subsequently released.
At that point, the woman did not need medical attention. However, she reportedly fell ill last night, prompting her transfer to the hospital this morning, where she later died. The investigation is ongoing.
