Gardai in Drogheda appealing for information after woman was dragged into Boyne River while jogging

Gardai in Drogheda Co Louth are appealing for information after a woman was attacked in the town.

Gardai say the woman was attacked whilst she was jogging along the Ramparts Walk in the town at around 9am on Thursday morning when the alleged incident occurred.

It is believed that during the horrific attack a struggle took place and both the woman and her alleged attacker fell into the River Boyne. It is understood that the woman is currently in hospital. Gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

The man is described as being 5ft 7″ in height, thin build with a pale face and blue eyes. He was wearing a black jacket which was too big for him, black trousers and a black wolly hat.

The woman was jogging on her own at the time, but the area is said to be busy around that time with St Oliver school nearby.

It is strongly advised to never jog alone.
