Gardaí are questioning a woman in connection to a serious assault in Limerick City last night in which another woman was hospitalised.
The incident is believed to have happened around 3.30am on Parnell Street this morning. The seriously injured woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick with a number of head injuries. Gardai have sealed off the area for a technical examination as they continue their investigation.
The woman in question is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. It is understood that the woman can be held for a maximum of 24 hours. Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them on 061-214340.
