
Gardaí in counties Carlow and Kilkenny have confirmed that they have shut down seven brothels as a part of an ongoing operation on tackling suspected human trafficking.
The closure of the brothels comes as an ongoing operation aided by the assistance of the Digital Intelligence Unit, uncovered evidence of human trafficking in the regions.
Gardaí say a total of seven properties including three in Kilkenny and four in Carlow, where searched as part of the operation.
Although no arrests have yet been made Gardaí say they uncovered significant evidence that suggests prostitution was being carried out at the premises.
Officers involved in the case say investigations are currently ongoing.
