Gardai investigating the death of a man in Co Mayo over the weekend are now treating his death as a homicide 




Gardaí in Co Mayo who are investigating the death of a man over the weekend have said they are now treating his death as a homicide.

The latest news in the investigation of the death of Joseph Deacy, 31, of St. Albans in England, comes after he found with a number of head injuries outside a house at Gortnasillagh, Swinford on Sunday morning.

Mr Deacy was found unconscious by a passer-by at approximately 6am, before he was rushed to Mayo University Hospital by ambulance.

However a short time later Mr Deacy was transferred Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

Gardai say following a post mortem examination they are now treating Mr Deacy’s death as suspicious and they are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning to come forward with any information.
