Gardaí have issued a warning for women in the Shankill area of Co Dublin to be extra vigilant as they are currently investigating a number of sexual assaults , dating back since December.
Gardaí say the alleged sexual assaults involve a man following women on their own in the area between 4.30pm and 10pm, before proceeding to assault them. Officers say they have received a number of reports of alleged sexual assaults on women in the past two months and they have purposely set up an incident room to investigate the cases.
Gardai also they have taken a number of statements and are investigating numerous lines of enquiry, including examining CCTV and conducting door to door enquiries. They are advising women not to walk alone in any quiet or secluded areas but instead stick to busy public area’s.
