Gardai in Ireland are partaking in the first pan European speed enforcement ‘marathon’, which will be in effect from 6am today to 6am tomorrow morning.
Twenty two European countries are participating in the TISPOL (the European Traffic Police Network) speed check blitz. These are: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and the United Kingdom.
Forty seven people have died in Irish roads this year to date.
