Gardai in Cork have launched an investigation after a woman was seriously injured following an assault on Monday evening.
It is understood that the woman aged in her 30s was taken to Cork University Hospital after she was found unconscious on Railway Street at approximately 9:30pm.
Gardai say the woman currently remains in serious but stable condition in hospital.
They have appealed for anyone who may have been in the area between the hours of 8pm and 10pm to come forward and contact them at Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
