Gardai have launched an investigation following the death of a 3-year-old girl in a road crash in Portlaoise.
The incident happened on Cosby Avenue in the Fairgreen residential area of the town this afternoon.
It is understood that the girl was seriously injured in the collision and later died in hospital.
