Gardaí have launched an investigation into an alleged assault against a player under the age of 9 during a sporting event for children in Thurles, Co Tipperary at the weekend.
The GAA Munster Council is also investigating the incident during a blitz that took place on Saturday.
The young player was allegedly attacked after a man entered the playground.
It’s understood that gardai are awaiting a report from the game in question and will proceed with the investigation.
