Gardai in Co Offaly have arrested a man in connection with an alleged assault in Edenderry.
It is understood that the arrest comes after a man aged in his 30s was found seriously injured on Francis Street in the town.
Gardai say injured man was taken to Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore, where he remains in stable condition.
They added that a man aged in his 20s was arrested in connection with the incident and he is currently being questioned at Tullamore Garda Station.
