Gardaí are currently on the hunt for four men who brutally attacked a man at his home in Birr Co Offaly over the weekend.
The major investigation which was launched on Saturday comes after the man was subjected to a vicious assault by the group who beat him with a bar and locked him in a shed.
Although the man has now been released from hospital it is understood he was left that badly shaken from his ordeal, he has reportedly refused to return to his home out of fear since the sickening attack.
Gardaí who issued an appeal to the public for information on Monday say they are searching for four men with Munster accents and who had access to a high-powered 4×4 vehicle.
They also urge anyone who may have been travelling on the N62 between Birr and Roscrea in the early hours of Saturday morning to come forward and contact them on 057-9169710.
