Gardai have released a new appeal for help for information on the murder of 17-yr-old Raoinaid Murray in 1999.
The young girl’s body was found 22 years ago near her home in Glenageary, south Dublin.
Gardaí said investigators had recorded more than 4,500 statements, but that no prime suspect had been identified.
They said that many of those who were Raonaid’s age at the time are now parents, some of whom may have children around Raonaid’s age.
“We would ask them to reflect now, with the benefit of maturity and hindsight, on any information which may be of assistance to the investigation,” a garda statement reads, reports RTE.
“If any person has any information which could assist Gardaí in identifying a motive for the murder of Raonaid, and if any person has any doubts about the truth of an alibi already provided, we would appeal for your immediate assistance.
“You may unknowingly be shielding a killer.”
