Gardai reaffirm that they are holding widespread checkpoints to ensure essential workers have letter from employer and identification with them




Gardai have once again reaffirmed that they are out in force across the country, particularly for this – the first week of the new lockdown measures.

They say that they will stop any car they feel may be breaching the new restrictions and will promptly demand identification and a work permit type letter from their employer to prove that they are essential workers.

People must take the new measurements and restrictions seriously and the gardai and making sure that only essential workers are going to be on the roads going to work.

The emergency response team announced that anyone who is deemed to be an essential worker must carry a letter from their employer and verified identification with them at all times when they have to go out.

Gardai will have the authority to stop people either on foot or in their car and ask them where they’re going, why they’re going there, for how long they’ll be there and who they work for.

Failure to provide information will result in people being sent home or possibly detained if they refuse to go home.
