Gardaí have confirmed that they have recovered a chalice that was stolen from Co Louth over 20 years ago.
In a statement released on Sunday, Gardai confirmed that the 17th century chalice which was stolen from a safe in Ardee, in 1998, was recovered earlier this week.
It is understood that Gardaí found the chalice after it was advertised to be auctioned off at property in Dublin City.
Following it’s recovery, the chalice was taken to the Co Louth town in order to be verified.
Gardai say they are currently still investigating the theft of the chalice and have called on anyone who may have any information to come forward and contact them at Ardee Garda Station on 041 – 6853222, or any garda station.
