Gardaí have revealed that there were 64 incidents were officers were either coughed or spat at by members of the public.
According to new figures published by An Garda Siochana there were a total of 192 incidents in regards to social distancing from the 8th of April to the 9th of May.
Although Gardai have said that the vast majority are adhering to social distancing and restriction measures, there are unfortunately a number of people who have chosen to ignore the guidelines set out by the Government.
Gardaí say officers were required to use anti-spit guards 47 times in the last month.
They added that all cases regarding spitting or coughing are being dealt with.
