It has emerged this morning that Gardai have received a number of calls from the public in response to their appeal for information about the discovery of an abandoned baby girl in Rathcoole, Dublin, last Friday.
The baby has been named Maria, and is currently being looked after by staff at the Coombe hospital. Maria will likely be discharged soon, as she remains healthy and well. The most probable scenario at this point is that she will be put in foster care for a time.
Officials yesterday appealed again for the baby’s mother to come forward, saying that she’d be treated in a compassionate way.
