A man wielding an ‘offensive weapon’ was taken into custody after a disturbance at a busy Lidl store in Dublin during lunchtime—thanks to the quick intervention of another man who stepped in to stop the situation, reports The Mirror.
The event occurred at a Lidl located on Talbot Street in Dublin at approximately 1pm on Friday.
A video widely shared on social media shows a security guard standing at the entrance of the store as a bearded man in a leather jacket is confronted by another man wearing a yellow jumper and a sleeveless jacket who appears to lunge at him, reports The Mirror.
The aggressor can be heard shouting at the man in the leather jacket while holding what Gardaí have identified as an “offensive weapon,” yelling, “Come on, I’m going to stab you mother****r.” Reports suggest the item was not a knife.
When the man with the weapon begins to remove his bag, the man in the leather jacket seizes the moment to tackle him, shoving and restraining him in a corner of the store while telling bystanders to “call the Guards.”
Other voices in the video say, “he has a blade on him.” The video ends with Gardaí arriving at the scene to make the arrest, reports The Mirror.
