Garda officials have announced a proposed expenditure of around €500,000 on brand new riot gear, after a recent report of ‘equipment pooling’.
According to the report, members of the Force have been forced to share riot gear and items such as batons as there weren’t enough to go around, or the equipment itself was way beyond the lifespan recommended by the manufacturer.
Tenders are out now for the new gear.
