
In the early hours of today morning, a building in Dublin caught fire and six people—two of whom were children—were saved. The event is being handled as arson by the Gardaí, reports The Mirror.
The event happened at a house on Cherry Orchard Avenue in Ballyfermot at around 4:35 a.m. The fire, which had severely damaged the home, was put out by the Dublin Fire Brigade.
After being pulled from the residence, six persons received treatment for smoke inhalation at the hospital. Two kids were among them, reports The Mirror.
A official inquiry has been started after the site was examined forensically and technically. The gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward, and the incident is being investigated as arson.
“Gardaí in Ballyfermot are appealing for witnesses following a fire at a residence on Cherry Orchard Avenue, Ballyfermot, which occurred on Saturday, February 15, 2025,” said a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána. At approximately 4:35am, gardaí from the Clondalkin Community Engagement Area responded to a report of a fire at the property,” reports The Mirror.
“Dublin Fire Brigade extinguished the fire, which extensively damaged the property. Six occupants, including two children, were rescued from the house and treated in hospital for smoke inhalation. The fire is being treated as arson and is under investigation by members of the Crime South Unit based at Clondalkin Station. A full forensic and technical examination of the scene has been completed,” they added, reports The Mirror.
