Gardai have warned the public to be extra vigilant in the lead up to Christmas following reports of a parcel text scam.
The warning comes after a number of people have received an SMS message pretending to be from An Post.
Gardai say the would be scammers are asking people to click on an enclosed link to give them personal details in order for their parcel to be delivered.
It is understood that some scams are asking people to pay charges in order for their supposed parcel to be delivered.
Gardai say the public should not give their personal details such as credit/debit card details, but they should instead report the message to Gardai before deleting it.
