Parts of Australia have seen some of their hottest temperatures on record exceeding 43c in many places.
Authorities have warned the public to be careful as they think this summer could be one of the hottest since records began.
The warning comes as the inland town of Marble Bar experienced a sweltering 49.1C day on St Stephen’s Day.
In an official warning Australian weather forecasters have urged the public to be ready as temperatures are expected to exceed 40C in the coming days and weeks ahead.
Elsewhere the country’s capital of Canberra experienced temperatures of 39.1C over the past few days.
