George Nkencho family express concern at slow pace of investigation into the thug’s death

The family of George Nkencho, who was shot dead while attempting to stab a Garda on December 30th 2020, have expressed their concern at the slow pace of the GSOC investigation into the killing.

The 27-year-old allegedly brutally assaulted a manager at Hartstown Eurospar before refusing to obey Garda orders to surrender as he walked to his family’s home in Clonee while allegedly brandishing a knife.

Nkencho lunged at armed Gardai with knife and was shot and killed in his family home’s front garden.

Now the family’s solicitor has said that he believed that the conclusion of the investigation by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc) remains some way off and is moving at a “snail’s pace”, the Irish Times reports.

Meanwhile, many Blanchardstown residents have called for an investigation into why Gardai permitted a large crowd of mainly African youths to go on a rampage through Blanchardstown the day after Nkencho was killed.

The gang attempted to storm Blanchardstown Garda station before heading to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre and then onto Hartstown Eurospar where their indiscriminate and animalistic assaults on pedestrians and vehicles along the route were captured in multiple videos.

Gardai adopted a hands-off approach during the rampage and refused to intervene even when a woman and her young son were set upon.

Despite the plethora of video evidence of the violence and destruction of property not a single person has been charged over the violence that day.
