The Sinn Féin leader has today stated that he’s willing to forego his ministerial salary if the party is elected into government, and that he’ll take the “average wage”, as he believes that leading by example is the right thing to do.
The average gross salary in Ireland currently stands at €26,800, while ministers can earn in excess of €150,000.
While this may be a ‘spur of the moment” comment, such deed would certainly go a long way to relate Adams to the reality on the ground in Ireland at the moment, in terms of salaries.
