It would appear as though the Irish public’s opinion on Dr Tony Holohan is beginning to change from positive to very much negative.
The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan wasn’t happy on Saturday night.
Holohan said that he had to drive through Dublin City centre at 8:15pm and was shocked at what he saw.
Scenes of people drinking, laughing, enjoying the sunshine and delighted being out and about did NOT sit well with Holohan who felt the need to take to Twitter to voice his dismay.
Many people on social media feel that Holohan’s comments are unjustified and that he should have kept his mouth shut.
Some users said that the CMO needs to “get a grip” and that the power has gone to his head. Some even argued that Holohan is missing the spotlight and needed to say something controversial just to keep his name relevant. Either way, Holohan’s comments sound very much like a threat of what he could do if the Irish public don’t play ball, in his eyes.

Drove into Dublin City Centre to collect someone from work at 815 PM. Absolutely shocked at scenes in South Great George’s St, Exchequer St, South William St area. Enormous crowds- like a major open air party. This is what we do not need when we have made so much progress.
