The girl who died of meningitis in recent days was reportedly left suffering for up to 16h on a trolley prior to death.
16-year-old Aoife Johnston spent her final hours on a trolley in the middle of a severely overcrowded A&E department at University Hospital Limerick, an environment akin to a medieval torture chamber for anyone gravely ill.
Someone eventually prescribed antibiotics, but Ms. Johnston was too far gone and could not be saved.
The hospital is said to be ‘investigating the circumstances.’
