The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has called for further blood donations as stock has become critically low following Storm Emma.
In an announcement made today the Irish Blood Transfusion Service said they are appealing for further donations in the coming weeks as conditions last week led to the cancellation of a number of much needed transfusions.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service also say they are in search for all types of blood groups and have issued a plea to the public, saying by giving blood you could make a major difference to someone’s life.
The service added they hope to have 7,000 donations from now until St Patrick’s Day.
