The so called global greening event will not take place this year upon the request of the Taoiseach Micheal Martin.
It is understood that the Taoiseach has contacted embassies around the globe and requested that monuments that are normally highlighted with green lighting be passed this year.
The Taoiseach is believed to have made the request in order to pledge solidarity with Ukraine.
Although monuments such as the London Eye and the Effiel Tower won’t be highlighted in green lights but they will be shown in yellow and blue the colours of Ukrainian national flag.
