
The country is currently experiencing some exceptional weather over the past couple of weeks which has everyone smiling, and now it seems the recent spell of sunshine is a record breaker.
According to Met Eireann this past Tuesday was the sunniest spring day for parts of Dublin in over 30 years. The recent bout of delightful sunshine also altered Met Éireann’s weather data with May temperatures being above average.
The state forecaster also revealed the highest temperature recorded over the last three months was reported in Belmullet, Co Mayo on May 9th when it was 25.4 degrees, whilst March 18th was the coolest spring day of the year.
Met Eireann also revealed Dublin Airport had a massive 15.3 hours of almost unbroken sunshine on May 31st which marked the highest daily sunshine for spring in 31 years for that particular area.
Meanwhile Malin Head in Co Donegal received the most sunshine in the whole of the country recieving 15.9 on the same day.
