Glynn: Scenes of people drinking in the streets must be frustrating for business owners, the elderly and the vulnerable

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn has said that scenes of people congregating on streets whilst drinking alcohol is frustrating and disheartening.

Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Glynn said that he isn’t aware of wide scale incidents such as those over the weekend but it must be very disheartening for business owners and others to see such incidents.

Glynn who urged that the public must avoid such incidents, said that it was just a small minority who took part in the incident but stated that the large majority of people have been compliant with public health guidelines.

He added that the scenes in particular must be frustrating for frontline staff, the elderly and those who are vulnerable as they essentially isolated themselves for months now.
