Good Friday Services take place throughout the world with particular emphasis on a cure for coronavirus

Good Friday Services have taken place and will be taking place this afternoon and this evening here in Ireland and around the world, albeit without any congregations and mostly by video link.

Good Friday marks the passing of Jesus by venerating the cross, and hears Sermons focused on world peace, with many priests praying for a cure to coronavirus.

Fr Michael Johnson said:
“People across the world are having to fight more than ever with the outbreak of coronavirus. We need to stand together, united as one people under our Lord God and Savior, Jesus Christ”.

“We’ll also pray for all those who have coronavirus and the health care workers who are doing all they can to nurse the sick back to health with no regard for themselves. We pray for those under financial strain, that they can bear with it and that we will come out of this as soon as possible”.

Fr Joe Campbell celebrated Mass on Holy Thursday from the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar and it was broadcast on RTE.

Meanwhile, RTE are showing Cathedral of Christ the King, where Fr Derek Darby commemorated the Passion and death of Jesus from 3 to 4pm on RTE One.
