Whatever happens over the coming hours, Dublin’s Kellie Harrington has done herself, her family, Dublin and the entire nation of Ireland very proud on her route to the final in Tokyo’s Olympics to be held overnight Irish time.
Speaking after her incredible semifinal win, the Dubliner said:
“The last mile is never crowded. That’s how it does feel sometimes. It does feel very lonely. That’s the difference, being able to hold on in there and keep going.”
She’s now looking forward to competing tonight in the lightweight final against Beatriz Ferreira of Brazil with a Silver medal guaranteed and a Gold medal in sight.
Best of luck, Kellie!
