The ‘world’s loneliest’ elephant is to finally find companionship and better conditions by leaving a notorious Pakistan zoo, ABC News reports.
Kaavan , who has become a focal point for animal rights activists, has lived in Islamabad’s Marghazar Zoo for over 35 years without any fellow elephants. Pakistan’s High Court recently ordered the closure of the zoo for its appalling conditions and negligence towards its animal population.
He was given medical clearance to be relocated to a wildlife sanctuary, possibly in Cambodia, where he will finally enjoy a better life in the company of other elephants. Reports say he is in poor physical condition and displays behavioural issues due to his unpleasant life in the zoo.
