Google says it’s pulling out of Australia if their government refuses to remove code that would make Google pay big bucks

The world watches on as Google goes to battle with the Australian government over whether or not they’ll continue their service down under.

As it stands, the Australian government is signing a new code, or law, that states that Google and Facebook will have to pay publishers who publish news to their platforms. How much they’ll have to pay isn’t known at this point, but it could mean big bucks to both tech giants.

The Ozzie government say that they’re not backing down and that they won’t be dictated to. Meanwhile Google says that it will no longer be viable for them to work in Australia and that 19 million people will have a poorer search and Youtube experience as a result.
