The beautiful Connemara sky is filled with smoke this morning as gorse fires have taken hold in the area of rural Galway.
A regional emergency was announced yesterday which saw a combined effort from Galway Fire Brigade, gardai and the Irish forestry services tackling the huge gorse fire.
Authorities claim that the fire was maliciously started and that it has spread due to the dry and hot weather conditions.
The Air Corps have been large quantities of water to try and curtail the direction of the fire.
