Budget 2020 has received mixed views from being very hard to not too bad. One group not happy will be smokers, who have been hit hard with the price of a packet of 20 cigarettes rising by 50c from midnight.
Those intending to keep feeding their habit will have to fork out €13.50 per packet from now on.
Many people believe that smokers are merely an ‘easy target’ and that anyone smoking knows the risks involved and that a 50c increase won’t make any difference to smokers’ habits.
