The Irish Government has given its backing to Ireland’s and the UK’s Euro 2028 bid.
In an announcement the Government confirmed that it will support the bid with funding should it be successful.
It is understood that the Government’s support comes as the five football associations involved in the bid are to submit their proposal to host the tournament later this week.
Under the proposal Ireland could host games along with England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland which will kick off in the summer of 2028.
The Government say it will provide funding for venues, transport and security if the bid proves successful.
