The three leaders of the Government parties have confirmed that schools will reopen as planned following a meeting today.
According to RTE News, the Taoiseach Micheal Martin, the Tanaiste Leo Varadkar and the Green party leader Eamon Ryan agreed that schools will reopen fully on January 6th.
The announcment comes after teaching unions expressed concerns about the full reopening of schools following the Christmas holidays.
However despite proposals from unions calling for staggered reopening of schools, the Government have decided to follow public health advice and reiterate that school environments are safe.
