Government pledges extra €1m to tackle Ebola


The Irish Government has pledged an extra €1m to tackle the deadly virus Ebola. It is believed that the funding is being provided to the new UN Mission for Emergency Ebola Response, which is coordinating the international response to the crisis.

According to latest figures from the World Health Organisation it is thought that almost 14,000 people have contracted, or are suspected of having contracted, the disease which is understood to have killed over 5,000 people in west Africa.
