Taoiseach says it’s the government’s intention to hold the Leaving Certificate in June

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin said that it is the Government’s intention to hold the Leaving Certificate in its traditional setting.

Speaking to Virgin Media News, Martin said that the Government’s current plan is told the exams and talks are already underway with schools, teachers and student representatives.

The Taoiseach’s comments come after he was questioned by Virgin Media News if the Government was considering allowing calculated grades or for exams to be taken online.

Martin told the broadcaster that the Government and everyone involved in the process hope to hold the exams in their traditional setting as the vaccination programme could be significantly ramped up by the summer.

He added that it is hoped that schools could be fully reopened from next month.
