Government says it did not issue advice to President Higgins on Northern Ireland centenary service

The Government have said that they did not issue advice to President Michael D Higgins over the Northern Ireland centenary service.

In a statement the Government said that they did not offer any advice on the matter and stated that it would be unconstitutional to do so.

The Government statement comes after President Higgins confirmed that he will not attend the church service in Co Armagh next month.
