Government set to introduce new legislation that will stop paedophiles and sex offenders from travelling abroad

The Government could soon be set to introduce a new legislation that will see paedophiles and sex offenders being unable to travel abroad.

In a move that will see former sex offenders being placed on the passport stop list, those who are considered likely to re-offend will not be able to flee the country under the new laws.

It is thought the change to the Sex Offenders Amendment Bill, comes as the Irish Government are looking at ways to stop sex offenders and paedophiles from travelling to regions were child protection laws are considerably weak and rarely enforced.

It is hoped the new bill which is being submitted by Independent TD Maureen O’Sullivan will introduced next month.
